Claire Devine – PGCE, Bsc (Hons), RGN

Claire is the Medical Device Trainer for Swansea Bay University Health Board. She began her health service career as a registered nurse in 1991, where she developed an interest in education and training. Claire moved to a post in Education Training in 2007.
So works as part of a medical device training department which consists of 2.6 (WTE) and cover the whole of the health board. The team predominantly deliver training to nursing staff; our role also extends to training for medical staff as and when called upon. Our roles include training course development for high-risk medical devices, representing health board on local and national groups, advising on the procurement of devices and associated consumables, investigating clinical incidents, contributing to risk assessments and sharing best practice.
In addition, the department is instrumental in developing policies, procedures and new practice guidelines.
The team also deliver this well received monthly IV study day & train over 200 nurses a year in IV Therapy.
