Dr John Boyes has been a Consultant Medical Microbiologist at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2011 during which time he spent several years as Infection Control Doctor for GRH before taking on Departmental Clinical Lead in 2018. He has won both local and National awards for his work on Point of Care influenza diagnostics and more recently has been instrumental in the Department obtaining accreditation as an HSST training centre, driving workforce diversification with the addition of a GP with special interest in infection as part of the clinical team and, since May this year, taking on the inaugural position of Clinical Lead for Infection Sciences within the West of England Pathology Network (S2).
He has a keen interest in quality improvement and improving antimicrobial stewardship and sepsis outcomes through education, improved rapid diagnostics and clinical multi-disciplinary working. He’d prefer to be on the golf course though!
