Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) Conference & Workshops

Part of the BSAC OPAT Initiative

Natalie Carnegie

I joined the re-established OPAT service having worked in the communicable disease ward prior to this for several years, working as a staff nurse along side the current consultant team who work with us in OPAT.

In OPAT I teach patients to actively give their own intravenous antibiotics at home, or they come to our clinic and we administrator them. I place midline for treatment, monitor bloods\sampling, review the people who come under the cellulitis pathway and independently review and plan for treatment on the wards.
