Professor Graham Ellis is Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the Scottish Government and has served as specialty advisor and senior medical officer prior to his current appointment.
He has a background as a Geriatrician in Lanarkshire in Central Scotland for more than 15 years including 10 years’ experience in setting up and running Scotland’s first Hospital at home service.
He has worked as a senior clinical manager within Lanarkshire and held national roles including as National Clinical Lead for Older people within Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
He has had an active academic portfolio with an honorary position as professor at Glasgow Caledonian University as well as honorary Senior clinical lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He has a research interest in the organisation of services for older people with frailty and continues to publish in this area.
In 2020 he founded and was first president of the UK Hospital at Home society.
