Reem is the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist at Cambridge University Hospitals, specialising in penicillin allergy de-labelling and global health. In her drive for innovation, she has led on several initiatives including a pilot programme for elastomeric devices to expedite patient discharge, a nurse-led IV-to-oral switch project, an AMS teaching programme for junior pharmacists, and various pharmacist-led antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) ward rounds.
When selecting inpatients for penicillin de-labelling, Reem and her AMS pharmacy team concentrate on identifying high-risk patients who may require extended or repeated courses of antibiotics. They perform comprehensive reviews independently and as part of structured penicillin de-labelling ward rounds, with an Allergy and Immunology SpR or consultant. Additionally, Reem is an active member of the regional ICB Penicillin De-labelling Group.
