Shantelle Peppin

I first qualified as a Paediatric Registered Nurse from Bristol University of West of England in 2018. I have worked at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children within A General Paediatric Ward and specialised Paediatric High Dependency Unit/Burns Ward. I have experience of working overseas as a Paediatric Nurse in Australia for 2 + years under multi-specialist teams.

In October 2022 I started the role as Paediatric Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (P-OPAT) Clinical Nurse Specialist at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. I have a specific interest and passion for educating and teaching parents’ home IVAB administration to enable a safe and efficient discharge home within the South West Region.
I also actively participate in the development of P-OPAT guidelines and teaching resources, utilising evidence based practice and networking alongside P-OPAT centres across the country to optimise a safe pathway for P-OPAT. The P-OPAT service at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children discharged 208 patients home in 2022 with a success rate of 97-98%.
